Re-discovered Ancient Indian Psychology As Pure Science

Psychology is the study of the human Consciousness, mind, behavior and other faculties. It is not a belief system. The biggest lapse on the part of the powers that be, is not freely letting the young generation to know the present or the latest position of various knowledge schools about Psychology. If we allow them to know both the schools of thought, it is left to the future citizens of the world to study, advance or improve them in the interest of humanity.

Before going further, it may be crucial to understand an important aspect of Psychology. Though it has been discovered lately or after most other subjects have been unraveled, Psychology deserves the first or the senior most position. Consciousness is like Pilot and it gets the Knowledge of navigation of life from Psychology.

Because the damaged human Consciousness(es) are not corrected, they are seen crashing often throughout their lives. The greatest difference between Psychology and all other subjects is in the actual movement or the Direction of study or observation of the Consciousness. Consciousness observes outwards or outside of it to study all other subjects. On the other hand, Consciousness has to turn inwards to study and understand Psychology, because it is like observing or studying itself.

Modern Western Psychology {MWP} has still remained a Social Science, because it has not found definite cause and effect explanations to rename it as a Pure Science about human behavior and other related topics. The origin, nature and structure of Consciousness hasn’t been found or defined as yet and studies are reportedly going on. Probably it may never be found, because of the intricate nature of the problem itself.

MWP says that I and the Consciousness are separate. So it has been difficult for the Modern Psychologists to find out both of them separately. MWP has no idea of possibility in the aberration or damage of Consciousness or its liberation or transformation, or about the psyche or the I. Counselling is oftn advised for minor problems faced by the individual. Major problems are generally attended to by the Neurologists and Psychiatrists, often with the help of drugs.

Ancient Indian Psychology (AIP) says that the Consciousness itself is the ‘I’. So the twin problem of finding each of them out separately is solved once for all. It is obviously hypothetical, because the ‘I’ can’t be taken out or dissected to study it. Protagonists of AIP say that as long as the stability of Consciousness is regained and retained, the problem of hypothesis doesn’t matter.

J Krishnamurti (1895–1986) was the last, latest and greatest Non Dual Philosopher of the world, who can be said to have contributed the best and maximum matter for development of AIP. Two of the most important terms he coined are the i)‘Conditioning’ which is the process of attachment of parts of both Consciousness and Knowledge in Memory and ii)’Mutation’, which is the process of returning, ‘de-conditioning’, detachment or liberation of the Consciousness from the above conditioning.

Consciousness produces knowledge, stores it in memory and uses it discreetly. If Consciousness is fully in the present and not using knowledge in memory, then it is said to be in Meditation (K) state. Excepting the point of hypothesis, there is no other contentious issue here in AIP. Meditation is the restful, default state of Consciousness, when it is not using memory.
